THE BELTS OF TAE KWON-DO
WHITE
White signifies a stage of innocence such as that of the novice student with no
prior knowledge of Tae Kwon-Do.
YELLOW
Yellow signifies the earth from which a plant sprouts and takes root as the Tae Kwon-Do
foundation is being laid.
GREEN
Green signifies the plants growth as the Tae Kwon-Do seed begins to develop,
so the student's skill develops.
BLUE
Blue signifies the Heaven towards which the plant matures into a towering tree as the
training in Tae Kwon-Do progresses.
RED
Red signifies danger, cautioning the student to exercise self control, and
warning the opponent to stay away.
BLACK
Black is the opposite of white, signifying both maturity and proficiency in Tae Kwon-Do.
It also symbolises the wearer's imperviousness to darkness and fear.
